採用試験の問題です。意味は解っても、綺麗な日本語にするなると結構大変。特に後半の文章はなかなか難しい。

以下の文章を和訳しなさい

Albert Einstein, one of the greatest scientists the world has ever known, was born in Germany in 1879, and in 1940, became an American citizen. The Nazi government had forced him to leave his homeland.

Although he was busy as a scientist, he was always interested in art. He liked classical music, and played the violin very well. One day, when Charles Chaplin invited him to an opening night of one of his movies, Einstein accepted the offer and enjoyed seeing the movie.

Einstein was also well- known as a humanist, and after World War II, he came to believe in “ World Government.”

The following is the outline of his essay, “ I Believe ”, in which he tells us how we should live in this World. You will learn a lot from this great scientist’s view of life.

Strange is our life here upon earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to find a purpose.

From the point of view of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: that man is here for the good of other men-above all for those upon whose smile and health our own happiness depends, and also for the great number of people we do not know but can sympathize with when they suffer. Many times a day I realize how much my own outer and inner life is built upon the hard work of other people, both living and dead, and how much I must make efforts in order to give in return as much as I have received.
